Daybed Plans

Post image for Daybed Plans

At present, Miss Chief still sleeps in my room. We have a hide-a-bed couch in her room upstairs for guests. It’s not comfortable. My mother-in-law is polite enough not to complain but I’ve slept on that thing and it stinks. I’ve been haunting Craigslist and searching for sales on a daybed for the space. After nearly eight months, I still haven’t had any luck.

I recently stumbled across Knock Off Wood by Ana. She’s a self-proclaimed furniture junkie whose passion expanded from making furniture for her family to producing commercially. Like most of us, Ana is aware that the quality of handmade furniture is just as sturdy as the store bought stuff. And besides, you can custom trick out whatever you build! (The savings is also a huge incentive to make friends with your power tools.) Luckily, Ana has posted a few of her awesome plans at the site for our personal use. Huzzah!

One of the plans is for a daybed.

I was all ready to go shopping for lumber when I read another post of Ana’s that mentioned PoshTots. Holy crap! Their stuff is gorgeously overpriced confections. Seriously, you have to go take a look. Right now. I’ll wait.

~~time passes~~

You’re back? I’m impressed you could peel your eyeballs away from their site to come back to mine. You must be a fellow frugal Momma. I’ve been enchanted by the Coronada Cottage series. Look at that bed! It’s calling to me, “Come take a nap on me, Julie.”

And yet, when you really get down to it, it’s not that complicated. Which got my brain whirring along. Hey! Couldn’t I take Ana’s plans for the other daybed and smoosh them around to get to this?

Voilà! I made up bed plans!

I’m building the bed now and will post the plans for you once the test-run shows any fixes for woodworking happiness.
